A few minutes spent discussing and speculating on a variety of topics (fossil hunting; forest fires; meteorites) in Arizona's Coconino National Forest. There were long bumpy stretches of ATV/quad riding on National Forest trails (none of which I videod) between the conversations presented in this video. Here in the National Forest on 9 August 2009, at an elevation greater than 7000 feet, the overnight temperature was in the 30s (F.) and the daytime high in the low 70s (F.); this while Phoenix -- in the lower, hotter desert lands far south of the National Forest -- baked in 100+ degree F. heat. Coconino National Forest is a great place to get away from the hotter parts of Arizona in the summer. You betcha! The southern boundary of the Coconino National Forest is formed by the steep cliffs of the Mogollon Rim (pronounced Mug-ee-yown), which is also the southern boundary -- and beginning of --- the Colorado Plateau physiographic province. The Rim also functions as the boundary between several Arizona counties.
