Stoneman Lake Road runs 14.6 miles from I-17 exit 306 to Lake Mary Road, just south of Mormon Lake. As the west end of FR 213 is still 1000 ft. below the top of the Mogollon Rim, Stoneman Lake Rd. climbs 2,100 ft, west-to-east. The west end is juniper, pinyon and manzanita. The east end, part of the world's largest stand of ponderosa pine. Stoneman Lake is right in the middle. The western most six miles are paved. (Why, I have no idea.) The rest of Stoneman Lake Rd. is car-drivable dirt. It was a lot quicker than driving AZ-87 through Payson!
